New Eatery Coming to Concord

El Rodeo Mexican Restaurant will open soon on Loudon Road.

A new restaurant is coming to Loudon Road, in the old space that was formerly an Outback Steakhouse.

El Rodeo Mexican Restaurant will open in about two months, according to Pedro Aguirre, the nephew of the restaurant’s owner, Jesus Arellano.

Aguirre said his uncle started out opening Mexican restaurants in the mid-1980s. Arellano currently owns about 20 restaurants across the eastern United States.

Arellano previously owned the La Carettas chain and has lived in the state for more than 12 years, according to Aguirre.

Aguirre said they decided to open new restaurants in New Hampshire since there seemed to be an opportunity with good locations. El Rodeo will occupy three former Outback Steakhouse locations in Concord, Newington, and Portland, Maine. Another location owned by Arellano, Mexico Lindo, a former Friendly's Restaurant, just opened in Exeter.

Aguirre said the family has clean restaurants and homemade food offerings passed down from other members of their family. They are also looking forward to doing business in Concord.

“We dedicate ourselves to the quality of the food … everything is made from scratch,” he said. “All the meat, chicken, fish, everything, is grilled (in-house) … we really (focus) on good service and the freshness and quality.”

When El Rodeo opens, it will be the third Mexican restaurant in Concord.

Hermanos Cocina Mexicana recently celebrated its 29th anniversary in business in the capital city. The Margaritas Restaurant chain, located in the city's former police station, recently celebrated 26 years in business.

The Outback location closed late last year with no information as to why it closed, although scattered chain closings have been reported in other locations. A Buffalo Wild Wings location recently opened at the other end of the shopping plaza.
