New Natural Gas Facility in Pembroke Could Open by 2014
NG Advantage: Economic development opportunity exists for NH commercial and manufacturing facilities to save on energy costs.

Clean Energy Fuels and NG Advantage announced this week they have signed a 10-year agreement in connection with a proposed natural gas compression filling facility in Pembroke, which could be operational by 2014.
There is no official opening date at this point. The Pembroke facility is in permitting stages now, and construction would immediately follow the necessary approvals, Mary Evslin, a co-founder of NG Advantage, said in a phone interview.
NG Advantage, based in Vermont, will greatly expand its coverage area. Its slogan is "beyond the pipeline," a reference to natural gas being trucked to customers who are not located near a natural gas pipeline. In New Hampshire, Evslin said, it's a real economic development issue, particularly for more rural manufacturers and processors.

With compressed natural gas, customers can save 30 percent to 40 percent on fuel costs, compared to oil or propane, according to NG Advantage.
"Hopefully," Evslin said, "we'll be able to help these rural, huge plants stay viable."

There are economic and environmental benefits of compressed natural gas, Clean Energy Regional Vice President Mark Riley notes in an announcement of the 10-year agreement.
"Our partnership with NG Advantage is expected to allow our two companies to bring these same advantages to America’s manufacturers who are located beyond the reach of our nation’s natural gas network," he said in a press release.
NG Advantage CEO Neale Lunderville said in a press release, "
Reducing energy costs and improving environmental impact is critical for American manufacturers to remain competitive in the global marketplace. Clean Energy is the perfect partner for us to serve our customers beyond the pipeline with cleaner, cheaper and abundant American natural gas."
According to NG Advantage, CNG reduces carbon dioxide by more than 25 percent, compared to oil or propane.
