New Warden Sworn in to Oversee NH State Prison

CONCORD, NH - Michael A. Zenk was sworn in as Warden of the New Hampshire State Prison for Men in Concord. Assistant Attorney General Lynmarie Cusack performed the swearing in ceremony at the Commissioner’s Office on Feb. 5, 2016, according to a press statement from Jeffrey Lyons, the NH DOC public information officer.

Zenk is a career criminal justice professional with more than 36 years of experience including 13 years in executive level correctional management positions. He is from Ohio where for the past 3.5 years he has been the Deputy Court Administrator of the Toledo Municipal Court. Prior to this he worked in a variety of Correctional Superintendent and Warden positions for GEO Group, Inc. (Cornell Corrections). From 1986 to 2007 he was Warden of U.S. Bureau of Prison federal facilities in Georgia, New York, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts.

Commissioner William Wrenn said, “He demonstrates a high level of intelligence, a good grasp on common sense, and excellent judgment. His colleagues describe him with terms such as highly respected, a great person with a good work ethic, strong moral compass, a fair man with exceptional organizational skills, the highest level of integrity, dependable, and cares deeply for humanity. I am confident that he will do an outstanding job and will uphold the standards and traditions of the Department of Corrections.”

The NH State Prison for Men is a multi-custody level male facility with approximately 1,450 inmates and more than 325 employees.
