CONCORD, NH — NH Gives is now underway.

The annual 24-hour fundraising event for nonprofits, the state’s largest that is now in its seventh year, exhorts supporters to give money during the next day. The event assists nonprofits and causes in raising money and tapping into bonus pool funds and matching gifts. Those extras, about $900,000 worth, will help the orgs increase the impact of every contribution, Kathleen Reardon, CEO of the NH Center for Nonprofits, said.

“NH Gives is a powerful way for Granite Staters to come together to show our support for the nonprofits that are there for us when we need them the most,” she said. “Every donation can make a difference.”

In 2021, more than 14,000 donors gave $3.8 million to 584 nonprofits. This year, about 600 are participating. More than $8.7 million has been raised since the program’s inception.

“As we continue to navigate challenging times in our communities, nonprofits will be there for us every step of the way,” Richard Ober, president and CEO of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, said. “Together, we can do something big for the organizations that improve the quality of life for everyone who calls New Hampshire home. Let’s show New Hampshire’s nonprofits what’s possible when we come together and give.”

The charitable foundation has a bonus pool of around $240,000 available based on a percentage of the overall NH Gives total they raise. Organizers said the bonus pool ensures that donations go a little further during NH Gives. Donors have also offered more than $650,000 to match donations to specific nonprofits.

New Hampshire PBS will be live streaming several hours of giving at its new studio. Greg Kretschmar and Scott Spradling will be hosting the live stream.
