NH Law Enforcement Officers' Memorial Held May 22

The event will take place in Concord at 10 a.m.

On Friday, May 22, the New Hampshire Law Enforcement Officers Memorial will be held at the site of the Police Memorial at 10 a.m., according to a press statement.

The New Hampshire Police Memorial is located on State Street on the grounds of the Legislative Office Building, behind the State House in Concord. All sworn and civilian members of Law Enforcement, Department of Corrections, the Legislature, the Public, and Media are invited to attend. The program will last approximately one hour. In case of rain, the ceremony will be held inside the State House in Representatives Hall.

Speakers will be her excellency Gov. Margaret Wood Hassan and Senior Assistant Attorney General Jeffrey A. Strelzin. Reading the Roll of Honor will be Senior Assistant Attorney General Jeffrey A. Strelzin, recognizing the names of New Hampshire’s 46 fallen police officers. The New Hampshire Police Association Pipes and Drum Band will play popular songs, including Amazing Grace.

This year, the names of 273 officers killed in the line of duty are being added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC. These 273 officers include 127 officers who were killed during 2014, plus 146 officers who died in previous years but whose stories of sacrifice had been lost to history until now.

The New Hampshire Pipes and Drums will perform at the ceremony, along with a musical selection by the nationally acclaimed Londonderry High School Marching Lancers. The event is being sponsored by the New Hampshire Troopers Association, the New Hampshire Police Association, the Police Chief’s Association of New Hampshire, the Hundred Club of New Hampshire, and the New Hampshire Law Enforcement Officers’ Memorial Committee.

The New Hampshire Law Enforcement Officers’ Memorial Committee is still seeking donations for the perpetual care fund and donations of any amount would be greatly appreciated.
