NHSP: After Crash, Vermont Man Tried to Jump Off I-93 Bridge

The elderly man was transported to Concord Hospital after allegedly attempting to jump off the highway onto Manchester Street.

A Vermont man is being evaluated and treated at Concord Hospital after reportedly attempting to take his own life after a crash on I-93 on Oct. 6, 2015.

According to the New Hampshire State Police, troopers were called from the Exit 12 detail to Exit 13 at around 8 p.m. after hearing reports of a crash on the highway and a man attempting to jump off the bridge onto Manchester Street.

“Several troopers were dispatched and as more information came into headquarters,” according to Sgt. William Graham of Troop D.

The man, 68, of Vermont, had just been involved in a three-vehicle crash. One of the other drivers was “struggling to keep him from jumping off of the bridge.”

After troopers arrived, the man reportedly ran back onto the highway and attempted to flee the scene. Troopers restrained him and Concord Fire and Rescue teams transported to Concord Hospital.

The crash remains under investigation, according to Graham. He added that one of the other drivers suffered minor injuries.
