Offer Opinions About Concord Signage Jan. 12

Councilors looking for input about potential designs for the Complete Streets Main Street project.

On Dec. 8, the Concord City Council scheduled a public hearing for Monday, Jan. 12. This meeting is meant to hear public comment on the recently presented designs for new wayfinding signage as well as new lighting concepts for Main Street. This meeting will begin at 7 p.m.

The idea for new, themed, wayfinding singage throughout downtown Concord came out of the original Main Street Project planning. The City has since commissioned the nationally recognized, singage design firm, Merje. After assessing the city’s needs and unique design features, Merje has developed three base designs for the city to choose from.

Also during the planning and public hearing phase the council directed city officials to seek out a highly qualified lighting design specialist. Boston-based Horton Lees Brogden Lighting Design was hired and has developed plans for a lighting design and strategy that could add greater aesthetic impact to Main Street.
