One Sent To Concord Hospital After Crash Between Vehicle And Scooter In The North End

CONCORD, NH — A man was taken to the hospital after a crash between a rider on a scooter and a vehicle near the Franklin and North States streets roundabout on Saturday afternoon.

Just before 5:45 p.m., police dispatch began receiving calls about the crash, reportedly involving a motorcycle. Another witness, however, stated it was a scooter. A witness also claimed the rider did not want anyone to call the police, according to scanner chatter.

Several officers arrived and closed off the northbound side of North State Street and directed traffic around the roundabout. Fire and rescue teams also arrived.

One officer said they were familiar with the rider because he was involved in a recent civil standby — police keeping parties separate during an apartment or housing move or family incident.

The other vehicle was a Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck.

Officers were asked about the severity of the injuries, and one replied the rider had a large welt on his head as well as cuts on his shoulder.

An officer who was already at the hospital taking statements about a prior motorcycle crash on Route 106 was available to assist in interviewing the victim.

Police spoke to at least one witness at the crash scene. They also canvassed the area, looking for video surveillance footage of the neighborhood.

Officers had part of the road closed for more than two hours during the crash investigation.
