CONCORD, NH — While thousands and thousands of people were enjoying Halloween Howl in Downtown Concord, on the outskirts of the merriment on Friday, some of the city’s problems reared their ugly heads nearby.

Concord police, around 6:30 p.m., requested Concord fire and rescue teams to the area of School and North Main streets for a report of an overdose. The officer told dispatch the ambulance would need to drive the wrong way down School Street from North State Street. Another officer was requested, too.

“We’re under control,” the officer said, “we’re just going to need rescue.”

The first officer arrived and found a teenage girl on the ground with injuries, but she was “conscious and alert.” The officer told dispatch the fight was no longer in progress, and other teens had fled the area.

Other officers began heading to the area to find out what was happening.

“There’s a crowd of people who witnessed the fight,” one officer said, while telling other officers the first name of a possible suspect. “There were juveniles involved in this, and they are all scattered around.”

One officer asked if the victim needed treatment by firefighters, and the officer said EMTs should be sent to Warren Street. The victim, who was in her early teens, was treated by EMTs, and a parent was called to pick her up.

Dispatch reported there was also a large group of kids on the top floor of the Storrs Street Garage. An officer check out the Storrs Street Garage, found no issues, and cleared the area.

Later, the suspect, another girl, 14, was found near the Centerpoint Church on North State Street.

Officers headed to the area, but the teenagers fled to the Firehouse Block Garage before they arrived. Officers went to the garage, secured the suspect, and she was questioned.

A parent was called to pick her up later, according to scanner chatter.
