HOPKINTON, NH — Interstate 89 is fully reopened to traffic after a commercial vehicle flipped and crashed in Hopkinton Monday.

Around 5:15 a.m., New Hampshire State Police received calls about a truck flipping on the northbound side of the highway. According to the initial investigation, the vehicle was traveling in the right lane as it approached a right-hand curve around Mile Marker 8.6. The truck then struck the guardrail, Amber Lagace, a public information officer for the department, said.

“The driver overcorrected, resulting in the truck overturning and coming to rest, blocking both lanes of travel,” she said. “The driver suffered minor injuries in the crash and was extricated from the truck by (a) trooper from the Troop D barracks.” The driver was examined by Hopkinton and Concord fire and rescue teams and taken to the hospital due to injuries.

The interstate was completely shut down for approximately two hours until the truck could be removed from the roadway, Lagace said. Neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors in this crash, she added.

Troop D troopers were assisted by the New Hampshire State Police Troop G Commercial Motor Carrier Unit, the Hopkinton and Concord fire departments, the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, and Matt Brown’s Towing.

Anyone with information about the incident was asked to contact Trooper Kyle Cotnoir at Kyle.H.Cotnior@dos.nh.gov.
