Why are you seeking elective office?

I read the Concord Patch article regarding the history of the Concord school board charter, which was quite eye-opening. That, plus the fact that the right to vote on the school budget had been removed with the revision of the last charter review.

The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

The lack of accountability, evidenced by the comunity's lack of ability to vote on the issues that they have a constitutional right to vote on. Hearings are not votes. My intention is to reinsert accountability oversight into the charter.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

The debate that was hosted by Concord Patch, Concord TV and WKXL and monitored by Tony Schinella answers this question very well. I believe that the voters of this community should have a say in what happens in their schools.

If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)

The last charter commission to review the document removed any meaningful oversight of the schools.

How do you think local officials performed in responding to the coronavirus? What if anything would you have done differently?

I don't believe their research into the facts was complete. They trusted someone who has since been proven to have lied while giving testimony to Congress. The CDC, whose guidelines are treated as law, has flip-flopped with their numbers and recommendations several times. Affordable medication exists that has been proven to be extremely effective.
We perhaps should not have been persuaded to rush into fear so quickly. I would have researched the issue more thoroughly rather than listen to the loudest voice.

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.

I believe some of the policies that have been initiated should be reviewed. It seems that sometimes, a policy is made to pacify people rather than provide a wholesome remedy. And the language used to make these policies, the definitions, punctuation and capitalization, matters.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

My training as a paralegal helped me to become very good at reading and interpreting law, policy and the like. My training as a teacher gave me insight upon how the system works. My military background - I am an Air Force veteran - gives me the mission oriented focus needed to stay on point and get the job done.

The best advice ever shared with me was:

Do to others what you would have done to you.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

Lol. I think my positions are pretty clear.
