Pedestrian Struck By Car At Concord Roundabout; Police Investigating: Video
Police are investigating a crash at Franklin and North State streets where a pedestrian was hit and sent to the hospital on Wednesday.
CONCORD, NH — Concord police are investigating a crash at the roundabout at Franklin and North State streets, which injured a pedestrian on Wednesday.
Around 7 p.m., police dispatch received a call about the crash, and capital region fire dispatch was radioed to send firefighters and EMTs. Arriving officers closed off access to the intersection from all sides.
The pedestrian was a Concord man in his mid-60s who had an active warrant with dispatch noting he had prior incidents where he was hostile to police and had mental health issues. The vehicle involved in the crash was a Ford Fusion. The driver was checked by dispatch.

EMTs took the man to Concord Hospital with officers following behind.
When they arrived at the emergency room, all involved learned there was a long line for care, and the victim told police he did not want to wait, one officer told dispatch. The officer said, “(He) does not want to wait but fire is saying he should.” A second officer added the man did not want to wear his neck guard either.

After about five minutes, an officer told dispatch the man was refusing treatment and would be leaving the hospital.
“He’s being very rude to hospital employees,” the officer said. “He’s going to be walking out and refusing treatment.”
One officer asked about the warrant, and dispatch said it was for disorderly conduct and breach of bail. More officers were also sent to the hospital, while another noted he was not letting the man leave.
One of the other officers who was en route said he knew the victim “pretty well” and would try and gain a rapport with him when they arrived.
Around 7:30 p.m., dispatch was told that a nurse was evaluating the man, adding, “it appears we will be here for a little bit.”
Officers on Franklin and North State streets cleared the scene while checking on the other officers at the hospital and being sent to other calls — including a report of an impaired driver at the Shell gas station at Gully Hill and a domestic on Rumford Street.
