Pembroke Firefighters Knock Down Mulch Fire Near Sheep Davis Road

PEMBROKE, NH — The Pembroke Fire Department is investigating a fire on Route 106 on Sunday at a massive mulch pile at a local business.

Around 12:30 p.m., Capitol Region fire dispatch began receiving reports about smoke in the area of Sheep Davis Road near the Pembroke Street and Manchester Street intersection. The Oak Hill Fire Tower in Concord reported smoke near power lines, but the exact location of the fire was unknown.

Engines, tankers, and a forestry unit were sent to the area.

A few minutes later, the fire commander reported the fire was at one of the mulch piles at The Dirt Doctors on Keith Avenue. The commander called it a pretty big pile.

Firefighters tapped into a nearby hydrant and used the engine to douse the flames from the ladder.

Around 12:45 p.m., more firefighters were requested to the scene.

Around 1:30 p.m., firefighters were placed back in service in Pembroke.

News 603 posted a video from the scene on Facebook.

The Oak Hill Fire Tower also reported smoke in the area of Gould Hill and Old Stagecoach Road in Hopkinton on Sunday.

Firefighters confirmed smoke in the area and began searching for the fire. After about 1:15 p.m., police got involved and sent a drone to search for the fire.

At about 1:30 p.m., Oak Hill Tower was asked if they still saw smoke in the area, and they said they had not. Not long after, police reported no fire spotted with their drone.
