Penacook Man Injured in Fatal Crash on Route 202/9
NHSP: Henniker man killed after traveling in the breakdown lane at a high rate of speed, striking a car, rolling over, and crashing.
A Henniker man has passed away due to injuries in a crash on Route 202/9 in Henniker while a Penacook man was injured in the crash, according to New Hampshire State Police.
Todd Goss, 52, of Henniker, perished in the crash after his pickup truck collided with a Toyota Scion being driven by a Penacook man. The Penacook man was injured in the crash and medflighted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.
According to NHSP, troopers were called to the crash around 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 7, 2015, in Henniker. Emergency personnel arrived minutes later and discovered that two vehicles had collided. One of the vehicles, a pickup truck, had caught fire and was ablaze when the Henniker Fire Department arrived on scene, according to state police. The fire was extinguished and it was discovered that the vehicle’s operator, Goss, had passed away. The Penacook man sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital.

“The initial investigation revealed that prior to the crash both Mr. Goss and (the Penacook man) were traveling westbound on Route 202/9,” according to Sgt. William Graham. “It was reported by witnesses that Mr. Goss had been traveling in the westbound breakdown lane at a high rate of speed when he abruptly merged into the westbound travel lane and struck the rear of (the other) vehicle.”
After impact, both vehicles left the roadway, with Goss’ truck rolling over several times. It then struck a stand of trees and caught on fire.

The crash is currently under investigation by the New Hampshire State Police, Henniker Police Department, and the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Emergency units from the New Hampshire State Police, Henniker Police Department, Hopkinton Police Department, Henniker Fire Department, Hopkinton Fire Department, Hopkinton Rescue, New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation were on scene until approximately 8:30 p.m. at which point the road was reopened to traffic.
