Apple season is here, and a favorite fall activity is apple-picking. Here are some of our picks near the state capital.

Apple-picking season is here - so where do you go?

Here’s a list of some of our New Hampshire spots. In addition to pick-your-own, most orchards sell fresh-picked apples at a farm-stand and also have other activities. The season got off to an early start and picking generally lasts through early to mid October.

Appleview Orchard

• When: Daily, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. for apple picking; Country Shop open from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.

• Details: Pick-your-own McIntosh and Mollie’s Delicious, as well as the Country Shop featuring pretzel and dip samples. A petting zoo is also available.

Carter Hill Orchard

• Where: 73 Carter Hill Rd., 
Concord

• When: Daily, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.; Farm stand, 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Details: Pick-your-own Cortland and Crispin apples, plus a farm store.

Gould Hill Farm

• Where: 656 Gould Hill Rd., Contoocook

• When: Daily, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

• Details: Pick-your-own Gala and Cortland apples, plus a bakery and store featuring jellies and honey.

Meadow Ledge Farm

• Where: 612 Route 129, Loudon

• When: Daily, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

• Details: Pick-your-own Burgundy and Mollie’s Delicious, plus a farm store and pumpkin patch.

Surowiec Farm

• Where: 53 Perley Hill Rd., 
Sanbornton

• When: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

• Details: Pick-your-own Paula Red, McIntosh, Ginger Gold, and Cortland. Macoun and Crispin available at farm-stand.
