Pickup Truck Fire Extinguished On Route 106 In Concord: Watch

Concord fire and rescue teams and police were sent to a pickup truck fire on Sheep Davis Road near Autumn Drive Saturday.

CONCORD, NH — Concord police and fire and rescue teams were sent to a truck fire on Sheep Davis Road Saturday.

Around 12:30 p.m., near the road’s intersection with Autumn Drive, police and fire dispatch began receiving calls about a burning pickup truck. According to witnesses, black smoke could be seen billowing into the sky in the area.

Initially, firefighters from the central part of the city were sent. However, other firefighters on Portsmouth Street cleared and were closer, so they took the call. When they arrived a few minutes later, they found a GMC Sierra pickup truck fully involved and began extinguishing the fire. The fire commander said an area of brush also caught on fire.

Most of the fire was out after about 15 minutes, but firefighters continued overhauling.

The other firefighters were sent to North Main and Park streets for a report of a mulch fire. When they arrived, they found the fire had already been extinguished.

Around 1 p.m., police were able to open a lane up to get vehicles moving around.

The driver did not appear to be injured. According to scanner chatter, he requested a tow truck of his own volition to come to the area to remove the vehicle.
