Pittsfield Middle School Takes Third in 'What's So Cool About Manufacturing?' Video Contest

The school was one of three announced winners by Gov. Maggie Hassan on Feb. 17.

Students from 12 schools submitted 13 videos for the first “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing?” Video Contest and Gov. Maggie Hassan, D-Exeter, released the names of the winners via video on Feb. 17.

The three winners – Fairgrounds Middle School in Nashua, the North Hampton School, and the Pittsfield Middle School – will all received monetary awards.

“To ensure that our manufacturers can continue to be innovative and remain competitive, we need to make sure the next-generation of workers know about the opportunities that will be available to them when they graduate in a few short years,” Hassan said. “That’s why I challenged middle school students to explore what goes on inside their local companies through the ‘What’s So Cool About Manufacturing?’ video contest.”

“Each video was creative and informative,” said Department of Resources and Economic Development Commissioner Jeffrey Rose. “This contest is a great introduction for students to learn about manufacturers in their hometowns and realize that they can stay in New Hampshire after they graduate and pursue quality careers that are dynamic and exciting.”

The students at Fairgrounds worked with AET Labs, C & M Machine Products and Nashua South High School, according to a statement. The North Hampton students worked with Lindt Chocolate USA on their video to take second. Pittsfield students placed third working with Globe Manufacturing.
