Police: Concord Man Threatened to Blow Up Dunkin' Donuts

James West also allegedly threatened to kill, choke, and punch his girlfriend.

A local man is facing numerous charges after allegedly threatening to kill his girlfriend and blow up her place of employment, the Dunkin’ Donuts on Loudon Road.

James West, 26, of Royal Gardens in Concord, was arrested at 9:10 p.m. on Sept. 8, and charged with three counts of criminal threatening and a criminal mischief charge.

According to an arrest report and court affidavit, officers were called to the Concord Gardens apartment complex for a report of multiple 911 hang up calls.

When they arrived, a woman flagged them down and reported hearing glass being smashed and someone yelling in the apartment next to hers. Two officers and a sergeant made contact with the two men in the apartment and one, West, reportedly told police that he had been arguing with his girlfriend on the phone.

Another officer located the woman near the playground at the apartment complex on her way home from work. They were familiar with the woman from a recent brutalized baby case on Ormond Street by her previous boyfriend.

The woman was crying and reportedly told the officer that West had threatened during a phone conversation to “give her a black eye and blow up the Dunkin’ Donuts” where she worked.

As an officer walked her home to her apartment, another officer went to the Dunkin’ Donuts to speak to co-workers to see if anyone overheard the phone conversation and the threats. When the woman arrived home, she became upset because she found smashed glasses all over the kitchen floor and a broken ceramic cat one of her daughter’s had painted.

The officer went to speak to several neighbors who reported hearing screaming and broken glass. One alleged that she heard West yelling on the phone while breaking the glass. She alleged that West stated, “I’m telling you (the woman’s name), I’ll blow Dunkin’ Donuts up, I don’t give a f---.” She added that West allegedly also said, “I’ll give you a black eye, I promise.”

Other witnesses allegedly claimed hearing the man yelling the same things.

The officer spoke to the woman again who stated she called her home at 8:02 p.m. and spoke to West. She alleged that he threatened to kill her, that he was going to blow up the Dunkin’ Donuts, and that he would give her a black eye. West then reportedly hung up. When she called back, West allegedly stated that she better come home and that when she got home, he was going to “choke her out.”

West was later arrested and held on $2,000 cash bail.

On Sept. 17, West was arrested again on a bench warrant out of Hillsborough District Court on a driving after revocation and suspension charge. He was arrested at the couple’s apartment and had a court date on Oct. 9.
