Police Seek to Speak to Witnesses of I-393 Wheelchair Collision Accident
Report: A doctor, others may have seen the crash that led to Gene Parker's death; an investigator is asking for witnesses to come forward.

CONCORD, NH - A Concord Police Department investigator is asking for the public’s help in identifying more witnesses who may have seen the vehicle that struck and killed a homeless handicapped man last month.
On Jan. 28, 2016, at around 6:15 p.m., Concord Police and Fire and Rescue teams were called to the scene of a pedestrian struck by a car at I-393 and North Main Street.
The pedestrian was Gene Parker, 62, a homeless, handicapped man in a wheelchair who was on the Interstate due to the sidewalk between South Commercial Street and North Main Street not being cleared of snow. A woman in her 50s was driving the vehicle, according to reports. She has not been charged with any crime.

According to a police alert, during the course of the investigation, detectives learned that multiple individuals stopped right after the collision occurred.
“In fact, one of these individuals identified himself as a doctor,” according to Lt. Timothy O’Malley, the commander of the Criminal Investigations Unit for the department. “Detectives have identified some of the individuals at the scene however they have yet to identify the doctor in question.”

O’Malley stated that the department was now asking for the public’s help in the hopes that “anyone who may have been present at the time of the collision” will contact investigators about what they saw at the scene of the accident. The crash is still an active investigation, he noted.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. on March 12, 2016, at the First Church.
Parker’s daughter started a GoFundMe.com effort to raise $1,700 for his cremation. At post time, she had raised a little more than $1,000.
Anyone who has information about the crash should contact Detective Chris DeAngelis at 603-225-8600, Ext. 3757.
