Police, State Troopers Investigating Shooting In Concord’s North End
Watch: Rumford Street was closed for hours after a report of "shots fired" on Saturday; witnesses and suspects were questioned.
CONCORD, NH — Concord police and New Hampshire State Police are investigating a shooting in the city’s North End.
At around 3:45 p.m., police dispatch sent officers to a report of shots fired on Rumford Street between Franklin and Church streets. A witness reported a Black person in a silver Honda Civic and a black Chevrolet Malibu, with three Black people inside, had an altercation, and at least one shot was fired. The witness said there was a shell casing in the middle of the street.
The witness told dispatch both vehicles left the area driving south on Rumford Street. No plate registrations were given.

Two officers were sent to the area and closed the street to traffic. State police were also informed about the vehicles by a watch commander.
A few minutes later, a third officer reported seeing a black Malibu, which had a New Hampshire registration, at the intersection of Bouton and North Main streets and Interstate 393, according to scanner chatter. The officer confirmed there were three black people inside. More officers were sent to Bouton Street, with a watch commander warning and directing the officers to be aware of weapons while separating the occupants.

Police also ran plates outside of the homes on Rumford Street. An officer also reported broken windows on one of the homes. A state police photographer was seen taking pictures of at least two bullet casings in the street.
Police ran checks on several people in the area as well as the stop on Bouton Street. It is unknown if anyone was injured or arrested at post time. New Hampshire State Police arrived later.
An officer in the area stated they did not believe anyone was shot or injured but had limited information.
Three state troopers, including two K-9 units, were at the intersection of Rumford and Penacook streets around 6 p.m. They refused to comment about the case or what part of the North End the K-9s were searching. State police were also seen entering and exiting a home on the street near where the shell casing was found.
The street was closed for at least three hours during the investigation.
According to police, New Hampshire State Police is handling the investigation.
