Policom: Concord #1 Micropolitan Area

City named top community in study.

Policom Corporation, an independent economics research firm that specializes in the analysis of local and state economies and economic development, has named Concord, N.H., the No. 1 micropolitan community in the United States, according to a study released on May 31

The study, entitled Economic Strength Rankings 2012, analyzed both metro- and micropolitan areas and addressed "the condition of an economy from the viewpoint of its impact upon the standard of living of the people who live and work in an area." The firm has been producing studies on metropolitan areas since the 1990s; it began analyzing micropolitan communities, cities and towns between 10,000 and 50,000 people, in 2002. Washington, D.C., was named the top metropolitan community. 

Last year, Concord was ranked 4th on the listing and city officials, like City Manager , used the ranking during his to the  to promote the city's viability and vitality.
