‘Possible Chemical Reaction’ Causes Firefighters To Go To Bow: Watch

Update: Capital region firefighters and a hazmat team were sent to a manufacturing plant that was evacuated on River Road on Thursday.

BOW, NH — Capital region firefighters, EMTs, and police were called to River Road in Bow on Thursday for a report of a possible building fire.

Around 2:30 p.m., capital region dispatch received reports of alarms being activated in Building 1 of the Kalwall Corp on River Road. Later, firefighters found out the suppressor system was activated at Keller Companies, a manufacturing firm, and the building had been evacuated.

Bow command arrived and said nothing was showing from the single-story building, but everyone was out of the building. Later, around 2:45 p.m., the command reported there was no fire, no injuries, and everyone inside the building had been accounted for. They also requested a hazmat team activation to investigate “a possible chemical reaction.”

The Bow Fire Department on Friday said Kalwall manufactures plastics products at the plant. The plant's fire suppression system had extinguished a fire in the mezzanine in the corner of one of the buildings. Investigators identified the chemicals involved as TRIGONOX K-90 and acetone.
