Power Outage Reported In Concord, Capital Region

Update: Unitil and Eversource customers are beginning to come back online; about 700 still without power in Concord, Chichester, Loudon.

CONCORD, NH — Despite no thunderstorms or accidents affecting utility poles, about 2,200 customers are without power in Concord and the capital region.

Power went out in the West End of Concord around 4:15 p.m. Other neighborhoods soon followed. At 4:30 p.m., Unitil’s outage map reported 1,179 customers in Concord without power. About 23 customers in Chichester, as well as customers in Boscawen, are also without power.

By 4:45 p.m., Unitil was up to 2,000 without power in Concord.

Eversource is reporting less than 200 customers without power — 173 of them in Loudon. Wires are down on Lower Ridge Road in Loudon due to a tree. The 79 Eversource customers in Hopkinton who were out earlier have had their power restored.

Concord police dispatch requested officers head to Centre Street for a t-bone accident between two vehicles. Traffic lights in the downtown area are completely out.

Concord firefighters were sent to alarm activations around the city.

Unitil is assessing its restoration time for Concord. It expects Chichester to be back online around 9 p.m. and Boscawen back on at about 10:30 p.m. On Twitter, no reason was given for the outage.

At about 5:30 p.m., power began to be restored in Concord. About 300 remain without power in Concord, Boscawen, and Chichester.
