Power Restored To Nearly 40,000 New Hampshire Residents
Eversource and Unitil report heat is on for most customers ahead of frigid cold temperatures.
CONCORD - A wild and windy Monday resulted in nearly 40,000 Eversource and Unitil customers losing power, but both utility companies claim to have restored service to nearly all of their customers, just as frigid temperatures and snow are expected to move into the state.
Eversource reported on its Facebook page Tuesday morning that crews had restored power to more than 34,800 customers since Sunday. The company posted that it expects to have restoration fully complete to all customers by the end of the day.
Unitil reported no outages on its outage map in New Hampshire as of 10 a.m. Tuesday morning, after as many as 3,000 customers lost power on Monday. By 9 p.m. Monday, Unitil had reported lowering the outage number down to approximately 820 in the Concord and Seacoast regions.

“I take my hat off to all of the crews who worked this long-duration wind even in extremely difficult conditions,” Unitil media relations manager Alec O’Meara said in a statement on Unitil.com.
Gusts exceeded 60 miles per hour across the state Monday, with a peak gust of 171 reported at the summit of Mount Washington on Monday night.

The National Weather Service in Concord has continued a Wind Advisory warning through 5 p.m. Tuesday.
A northwest wind of 15 to 25 miles per hour, with gusts up to 50 miles per hour, is capable of snapping tree limbs and causing sporadic power outages. High-profile vehicles may also experience difficult driving conditions.Harsh cold is expected to follow, with the wind chill reading in Concord forecast for minus-9 Tuesday night. Snow is expected to arrive on Wednesday, with NWS Concord forecasting one to three inches for most of New Hampshire.
