Powerball Climbs To $935M, 5th Highest Jackpot Ever

As the jackpot approaches $1 billion, the New Hampshire Lottery says the last time anyone hit Powerball was Jan. 1.

CONCORD, NH — Powerball is on its way to a $1 billion jackpot again because no one has won since Jan. 1, according to the New Hampshire Lottery.

Saturday’s jackpot was expected to be $935 million, or the fifth-largest jackpot in Powerball history. The one-time cash payout will be around $450 million before taxes if anyone hits it.

The odds of winning Powerball are 292.2 million to 1.

“Imagine all the amazing things you could buy with $935 million! You could buy the house of your dreams, or make that houses of your dreams, a yacht or even your own island,” Charlie McIntyre, the executive director, New Hampshire Lottery, said. “The possibilities are endless and we could not be more excited for our New Hampshire players. Over the past few weeks, retailers across the state have seen players jumping at the opportunity to become New Hampshire’s next multi-millionaire and we anticipate a continued high volume of sales leading right up to the drawing this weekend.”

The last someone hit Powerball was in Michigan on Jan. 1. There have been 36 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner.

Powerball drawings are held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays at 10:59 p.m.
