CONCORD, NH - In what would be the fifth largest Powerball jackpot on record, the New Hampshire Powerball jackpot is expected to reach $400 million for the drawing on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, according to lottery officials.
The $400 million jackpot would be the largest jackpot since February 2015. The one-time cash payout is projected to increase to $244.8 million. (Estimated jackpot amounts are before taxes). Powerball tickets cost $2 per play. Drawings are held Wednesdays and Saturdays at 11 p.m.
“The New Hampshire Lottery is extremely excited to be able to kick-off 2016 with this huge $400 million Powerball jackpot,” said Charlie McIntyre, the executive director of the New Hampshire Lottery Commission in a press release. “This is truly an incredible amount of money—over a 30-year period, $400 million breaks down to $13.3 million per year or about $1.1 million per month. Of course, the winner could always take the one-time cash payout of $244.8 million. Here’s hoping a New Hampshire Lottery player hits it big! Get your Powerball tickets now!”
