Reardon Wins County Commissioner Primary

Former city councilor, school board member easily bests Watrous in Democratic primary by a two-to-one margin.

Former Department of Employment Commissioner Tara Reardon easily beat state Rep. Rick Watrous for the District 1 Merrimack County Commissioner’s seat by a two-to-one margin, according to unofficial returns.

Reardon, who seemed to be running a relatively low-key campaign, won every ward in Concord easily and also won Boscawen and Webster, other communities that are in the district.

Watrous ran strongest in his home ward – Ward 7, receiving 253 votes but Reardon won the ward with 319.

Reardon was buoyed by the efforts of others, including outgoing Commissioner Liz Blanchard, who endorsed her and took her to campaign events, as well as a number of Concord city councilors and her husband, Mayor Jim Bouley, who all held signs at the polls.
