Redacted Abigail Hernandez Court Documents Released

Report: Kidnap victim's mother revealed the girl's captor's name a week after she got home.

A Granite State teen who was missing for nine months did not initially provide investigators complete information about the case immediately after she returned home, according to The Associated Press, which filed a motion to have the court documents released.

Abigail Hernandez went missing on Oct. 9, 2013, in Conway and returned home on July 20, after extensive searching, reward notices, and a letter sent from her to her mother letting her know that she was OK.

At some point during the first week she was home, she revealed to her mother that she hadn’t provided investigators with complete information about the case. She also gave her mother the name of her captor, which she learned from a cookbook that he reportedly gave her.

Later, Nathaniel Kibby of Gorham was arrested and charged with kidnapping and is still being held.

Neither investigators nor prosecutors have revealed much about the case and refused to release the arrest affidavit. The AP filed a motion to have the affidavit released and the court released a highly redacted version of the affidavit, according to reports.
