Rollover In Pembroke Sends 2 To Concord Hospital, Dog Also Injured

Watch: Concord, Pembroke firefighters, Tri-Town EMTs, and police were sent to a crash with injuries at Route 3 and Sands Road on Sunday.

PEMBROKE, NH — Fire and rescue teams, as well as police, were sent to a rollover crash at the intersection of Route 3 and Sand Road on Sunday.

Just after 11:30 a.m., the capital region fire dispatch began receiving calls about a severe rollover on Pembroke Road near Sheep Davis Road. Epsom EMTs and Pembroke firefighters were sent to the scene. When they arrived, the commander reported two men with injuries. A dog was also in one of the vehicles and was injured.

The commander said the men were Status 2 and Status 3 injuries and requested a second ambulance. Hooksett EMTs were then requested. The vehicles were a Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV and a Toyota MR2. Epsom and Hooksett EMTs were placed back in service as other firefighters arrived, according to scanner chatter.

The commander reported one of the drivers needed extrication from one of the vehicles and the town’s public works department was also requested due to a damaged water hydrant.

Concord and Tri-Town EMTs also arrived to help. CAVES was called to assist the injured dog. Dispatch told firefighters CAVES could not respond but could treat the dog if it was transported to Concord. Meanwhile, Firefighters continued attempting to extricate the driver of the MR2.

Concord EMTs took one person to the hospital, while Pembroke EMTs took the dog to CAVES around 12:30 p.m.

Firefighters spent more than 30 minutes using the Jaws of Life to extricate him. Tri-Town took him to Concord Hospital later.

Hooksett and Allenstown firefighters and EMTs provided mutual aid during the rescue and cleanup.
