Roof Fire Extinguished On Concord’s North Main Street After Spreading To Abutting Building

Video: The fire, reportedly caused by workers, activated a box alarm on Wednesday morning and caused a smoke condition inside the building.

CONCORD, NH — Concord fire and rescue teams extinguished a fire on the rooftop of a downtown building on Wednesday morning.

Just past 10 a.m., the capital region fire dispatch received a report of a box alarm activation at 90 N. Main St., the Bar Harbor Wealth Management building. There were also reports of smoke in the building.

After firefighters arrived, the fire commander confirmed light smoke on the first floor and basement. They also reported light smoke in a mechanical room.

Concord police were requested for traffic management.

Around 10:15 a.m., the building’s gas and electricity were shut down, and a commander stated workers were on the roof.

Tower 1 raised its ladder to the roof and discovered fire reportedly caused by workers. Most of the fire was extinguished just before 10:30 a.m. The commander then requested fire prevention to the scene.

Around 10:45 a.m., firefighters discovered the fire had extended into another part of the roof and an adjacent building’s roof at Zoë & Co Professional Bra Fitters at 92 N. Main St. Firefighters continued overhauling and then started to clear the scene.
