Jim Rubens, Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, released the following statement following the resignation of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki:
"Secretary Shinseki's resignation is thoroughly warranted, but the unforgivable problems in the VA System remain. All those culpable for falsifying veterans healthcare wait list records should be criminally prosecuted. As I've been saying since the moment this story broke, vets on extended wait lists and those being forced to drive long distances to get the care we owe them must be given vouchers so that they can access the provider or hospital of their choice.
"Another serious question remains. Why didn't Jeanne Shaheen and Scott Brown demand and get action when they learned about this problem two years ago?"
