Rundlett Middle School Placed in Lockdown After Medical Emergency

UPDATE: Limited information is available at post time about a student medical issue this afternoon.

CONCORD, NH — A middle-schooler having a medical episode placed Rundlett Middle School in lockdown this afternoon just before classes ended for the day.

Concord Fire and Rescue teams were called to the school at 3:08 p.m. on Feb. 8, 2017, for a medical emergency, Chief Dan Andrus of the Concord Fire Department confirmed, and transported a patient to Concord Hospital at just before 3:30 p.m. The EMTs cleared the hospital at 3:38 p.m. Numerous police cruisers were also at the incident, according to witnesses.

Limited information is available about the incident, due to the age of the patient and medical privacy laws. It has been confirmed that the school was placed on lockdown, as a safety measure and precaution, due to a student who had become physically ill.

Rundlett Middle School Principal Jim McCullum confirmed that the incident was a lockdown due to a medical emergency.

"Ensure safety of kids and those needing emergency assistance," he stated in an email. "This is our practice whenever we call for emergency assistance."
