The Blue Dukes were second in the 15U competition, 7 points behind Timberlane; third overall against more than 35 NH teams and clubs.

CONCORD, NH — The Rundlett Middle School Blue Dukes placed third at the NHWAY State Tournament on Sunday against more than 35 other teams and clubs.

The team, according to coaches, “exceeded all expectations.”

The tournament started with 12U entries getting the ball rolling. Chase and Nolan finished third and fourth in their respective weight classes.

After that, the 15U team members wrestled. Cody finished off his "amazing season" capturing his second state championship during his time with the Blue Dukes. Camden came back from a 6-0 deficit on points late in the third period, threw his patent headlock, and pinned his opponent to win his state title. “Big” Wayne avenged an early-season loss to a tough Rochester wrestler and captured a state championship in the heavyweight class.

Also placing was Isaiah, coming in second. The coaches said it was, “a great tournament and year for that young man.” Coming in third were Jaxon and Ethan in their respective weight classes. Fourth place finishers included Braydin and Jeff.

“All other wrestlers wrestled tough and with great pride,” the coaches said. “This team went through a lot of adversity from start to finish but never lost focused through it all.”

The coaches said, more important than the third-place finish, was that the 15U wrestlers were runner-ups in their tournament division, only seven points behind Timberlane.

“(We) couldn’t ask for a better group of wrestlers or a better day of wrestling,” they said.

Congratulations to all the wrestlers!
