Santa Welcomes Christmas Season To Downtown Concord At Tree Lighting

Watch: For the 38th time, Downtown Concord hosted a tree lighting ceremony outside of the Statehouse on Friday.

CONCORD, NH — Hundreds of revelers welcomed the Christmas season in Downtown Concord during the 38th annual tree lighting Friday.

Traditionally, the Christmas parade is the first holiday event of the season, but it was canceled due to weather. This year, the tree lighting event featured a professional magician, a costume contest, wagon rides, and clown balloons. Santa showed up at the end — thank you, Concord Fire Tower 1, for getting him to the event safely, and the lights were lit.

This year, there were no fireworks. But Santa said if everyone chips in a little bit during the off-season next year, enough money will be raised to make the 2024 tree lighting bigger and better than ever.
