Why are you seeking elective office?
I have lived in Concord most of my life and love this city. Growing up here, I have watched Concord grow and expand into this amazing, active, and creative city. I am running because I want to be part of Concord's vision and implementation involving its growth.
The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.
I think that the most pressing issue facing our council is public safety. I would like for the public safety board to be more active and possibly have more community members involved. Hopefully, have more involvement from the police and fire departments so that we can address some of the issues that Concord is facing. I would love for our community and all its members to feel secure and respected. Hopefully, this board could help put a more effective system in place to address and prevent some of the violence, crime, and other safety issues Concord faces.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I think the main difference is that I have not run for office before. That my goals are driven more from a family perspective. Growing up in Concord, my parents were active in the community and instilled in me a commitment to volunteerism from a young age. I began by coaching youth soccer before I even had my own children. When my first child was born and we moved to Ward 4, 14 years ago, I joined Friends of White Park and served on the board for many years. During 3 of those years, I organized a run to raise money for a new playground.
As my children grew up, they became increasingly more involved in sports and my commitment to the community grew with them. I now sit on the CHS wrestling booster club, I am the treasurer of Concord Crush Lacrosse, I help coach lacrosse, and I am a member of the Women's Club of Concord.
My goal is to set a strong example for my children by dedicating myself to my community. I hope that through this act of service, I will be able to make a positive impact on their lives and every Childs.
If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)
I wouldn't say they failed, but I would say that our views are different and I hope to bring a different view to the council.
Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.
I think taking a look at the traffic patterns around Concord and the use or under-use of our parks and green spaces.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I would say that my commitment to my community is extremely strong and the evidence of this is in the boards that I participate in.
The best advice ever shared with me was:
Some wise old man once told me when I was first starting a job, Ssee a need, fill a need." We are a team and if you see someone struggle, lend them a hand, it will make the team stronger. I have always remembered this and have tried to live by this.
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I am a down-to-earth person and love to work with others.
