SAU 8 Concord School District Interim Superintendent To Be Named Superintendent At February Meeting
Tim Herbert was unanimously recommended by a superintendent interview committee earlier this month; community members can meet him Tuesday.

CONCORD, NH — The Concord School District will soon have a new school superintendent.
Interim SAU 8 School Superintendent Tim Herbert was nominated to be the new superintendent by a search committee earlier this month and will be considered by the board of education on Feb. 2. According to Pamela Walsh, the board president, Herbert, who has been in the position since before the passing of Kathleen Murphy in August 2025, received unanimous support from the search committee.
The committee was comprised of community members, staffers, teachers, and one school board member.

Walsh said the district advertised the position last fall.
Herbert will meet with parents, staff, students, and community members from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27, in the Concord High School library. If staff and faculty are unable to attend that meeting, there will be another opportunity to meet with him on Friday during the district’s professional development day.

Before becoming interim superintendent, Herbert was principal of Concord High School. He was hired to be the assistant principal at CHS in 2019. Previously, he was an assistant principal at Pembroke Academy. Herbert holds an experienced educator license and endorsements for superintendent, principal, special education administrator, and social studies (5 to 12). All of his certificates are active through July 2026, according to the New Hampshire Department of Education.
“As a board and a community,” Walsh said, “we have had the benefit of working with and watching Dr. Herbert in action for (the) past 5 months as we all navigated a sudden transition and a number of significant challenges. We are excited for this next chapter for Concord’s schools and hope you will take the time to come meet Dr. Herbert and share your thoughts.”
