Merrimack Valley Day Care, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is a childcare service that has been providing care for low-income families in the Concord, New Hampshire area for 50 years. We serve more than 250 children annually between the ages of 6 weeks and 12-years old. Of the families we assist, 75% are below the poverty line and 85% are below the state median income.

In the fall of 2015 we received approval for a $200,000 Community Development Block grant from the state for the sole purpose of repairing our building. In order to receive approval for the grant we need to raise an additional $200,000 to cover the cost of the entire $400,000 project.

The building that houses the babies and toddlers is in desperate need of major repairs (roof replacement, new heating, new floors, etc.). The 5,000 sq. ft. building is close to 100 years old, and these repairs are necessary for us to continue to provide high-quality childcare for the greater Concord community.

This multi-phase project involves the following necessary improvements:

- Replacing multiple 40-year-old flat roofs
- Replacing a 30-year-old heating system
- Installing a sprinkler system
- Installing a new fire-alarm system that communicates directly with the local Concord Fire Department
- Bringing our building up-to-date with the Americans with Disabilities Act
- Replacing 45-year-old fencing surrounding the outdoor play area
- Repairing the drainage system
- Installing new tile floors throughout the building
