Seasonal Load Restrictions Ordered For NH Highways
Department of Transportation enacts weight limits to protect pavement during spring thaw.

Some New Hampshire roads will be closed to vehicles carrying high weights as part of the Department of Transportation’s customary spring load limits on stretches of state highways.
The spring thaw means that sections of roads are vulnerable to pavement breaking up as the frost leaves the underlying road base. The NH DOT district engineers review each road in their respective areas each year before posting a road limit.
There is an exemption to the limit under state law for trucks carrying home heating oil, processed milk products, maple sap and septic pumper trucks.

The maximum allowable vehicular weight posted sections of State highways is 30,000 pounds gross weight, or the cumulative width in inches of all tires contacting the road surface multiplied by 300, whichever is less.
