Jeb Bradley Named Legislator of the Year by NAMI New Hampshire

The award recognizes state Sen. Bradley's longtime support of individuals with mental illness.

Each year, NAMI New Hampshire recognizes a legislator who has made outstanding contributions to improving the lives of individuals affected by mental illness. At the NAMI NH Annual Meeting and 35th Anniversary Celebration, state Sen. Jeb Bradley, R-Wolfeboro, was presented with the Legislator of the Year Award. Bradley has worked tirelessly to improve timely access to health care for Granite Staters, driven in part by a desire to address the critical needs of individuals with mental illness and substance use disorders. Toward that end, Bradley diligently researched and crafted the NH Health Protection Plan, which garnered praise from consumers and policy leaders alike.

Ken Norton, Executive Director of NAMI NH, remarked, “As Chairman of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee, Senator Bradley led bipartisan efforts to identify solutions to the complex medical, legal and ethical issues NH faces regarding boarding people in a mental health crisis in emergency departments. His leadership resulted in successful legislation to address these and other complex challenges faced by our mental health system. NAMI NH is honored to recognize Bradley for his tireless efforts to improve access to health care for all NH residents and especially for those who have a mental illness and/or substance use disorder.”

Looking ahead, Bradley noted, “It has been an honor to work with NAMI NH to enhance New Hampshire’s ability to improve our capacity to treat people with mental illness. Ken Norton and NAMI NH led efforts to pass needed legislation in 2017. I look forward to working with NAMI NH to implement this legislation and continue our efforts to improve our mental health system.”
