Senior Program at Heights Community Center a Success
Concord Parks and Recreation Department says there are several new, popular programs.

CONCORD, NH - The city of Concord Parks and Recreation Department is excited to share the success of its Senior Program at the Heights Community Center.
During the past year, the department has seen a growth in the number of participants in its senior citizen program. With the addition of several new programs like Mah Jongg, a walking group, trivia, cribbage, Pickleball, Zumba Gold, a knitting group, and even a book club, the weekly attendance now averages over 170 seniors.
Recreation Supervisor Laura Bryant gives credit to the Department’s Senior Coordinator, Becky Bukowski, “Becky has breathed new life back into our Senior Program, offering a variety of activities and special events. It’s wonderful to see so many new faces.”

Also, by expanding its partnership with the Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association, the Department now hosts weekly and monthly senior health clinics, as well as several nationwide programs like “Better Choices, Better Health” and “A Matter of Balance,” according to a press statement.
Senior Coordinator Becky Bukowski said, “I try and focus on new activities that will be fun and enjoyable for the seniors, as well as increase the well-being of those who participate. It has been rewarding to see the increase in the number of people attending the activities. Many of the seniors are here every week and seem to enjoy the convenience of the location of the Heights Community Center and the comfortable, welcoming atmosphere we offer here.”

The Concord Parks and Recreation Department Senior Program is open to seniors more than 50 years of age. All programs are low cost or free.
