Severe Thunderstorm Watch Alert Issued For NH

Breaking: The National Weather Service: Hazardous weather will hit the Granite State through tonight. Tornado warning issued earlier.

GRAY, ME — The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook of severe thunderstorms for July 1, 2017, for most of the state of New Hampshire. The warning was issued at 1:25 p.m. and runs through 9 p.m. The alert covers Hillsborough, Merrimack, and Rockingham Counties with forecasters warning of damaging winds and very heavy rainfall.

“Several waves of heavy rain will impact the region through tonight,” according to the alert. “A stationary front will remain over the northern portions of the forecast area as a cold front approaches this afternoon. The two fronts combined with an unusually moist air mass will set the stage for the development of thunderstorms. These thunderstorms will result in very heavy rainfall during the afternoon and evening.”
