‘Severe Thunderstorms’ Heading to New Hampshire

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for Friday and the rest of the weekend. Here's what you need to know.

GRAY, ME — The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook this morning for the entire state of New Hampshire and parts of Maine warning of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.

“There is potential for severe thunderstorms producing damaging winds and large hail this afternoon and evening,” according to the alert. “Hot and humid conditions are expected with heat indices in the 90- to 95-degree range.”

The alert was issued at just before 7 a.m. on July 22, 2016.

The storms are expected to begin hitting parts of the Granite State by late afternoon; scattered storms will remain around the state through the evening. When the storms hit Coastal Rockingham County, they could bring “a moderate risk of rip currents.”

Scattered thunderstorms are expected on Saturday afternoon, too, and could become severe.
