CONCORD, NH — A sex offender now living in Concord, with prior convictions for indecent exposure in the eastern part of New Hampshire and Oregon, was arrested by Concord police on Wednesday on more lewdness charges.

Christopher Dastrup, 38, of Concord, was arrested on two felony indecent exposure and lewdness charges after an investigation that began in late March concerning a report of a man exposing himself downtown. Police, on March 28, received a report about a man flashing from an apartment window. An alert did not mention where precisely the man lived.

Witnesses, according to John Thomas, the deputy chief of the Concord Police Department, reported the suspect was exposing himself while looking through a pair of binoculars toward the downtown.

“The report to police indicated the male exposed himself in the apartment window for an extended period of time,” he said.

Four days later, an off-duty police officer, who happened to be downtown, saw a man exposing himself from the window of a nearby apartment, Thomas said.

“With the assistance of detectives from the criminal investigations division, the window the male was seen exposing himself in was identified as the same window from the incident the week prior,” he said. “The male exposing himself was identified and determined to be a registered sex offender.”

Dastrup was arrested at the New Hampshire State Prison for Men, where he was being held on unrelated charges. He refused the services of a bail commissioner and will be arraigned in Merrimack County Superior Court on Thursday.

According to past press reports and information from the Stafford County Superior Court, Dastrup was living in South Berwick, Maine, when he was accused of exposing himself to young girls in September 2017 at a Walmart in Somersworth. At the time of his arrest, he faced four charges, all felonies, due to two prior indecent exposure and lewdness charges in Oregon.

After a jury trial, Dastrup was found guilty on all four charges in May 2019. He was later sentenced to four years in jail. Dastrup was also registered as a sex offender in Maine, according to reports in the Rochester Voice.

Later, Dastrup challenged his judgment in the New Hampshire Supreme Court, but his challenge was thrown out in November 2020.
