Silk Farm Road Fire Damages Home, Injures Occupant

Two alarm fire in Concord sends one to the hospital.

A two alarm fire heavily damaged a home and sent its occupant to the hospital early Saturday morning, according Chief Dan Andrus of the Concord Fire Department.

Concord Fire and Rescue teams crews were called to 155 Silk Farm Road at 2:05 a.m. on Dec. 5, 2015.

The first crews arrived on the scene at 2:11 a.m. and found heavy fire involving the rear of the structure. The injured occupant was in the driveway.

A second alarm was called immediately bringing mutual aid units to the scene and to cover Concord’s stations. A general alarm was also transmitted to recall off duty Concord Fire Department personnel.

“Fire crews working from the city’s tower ladder vented the roof and flames shot several feet in the air while crews on the interior of the structure worked to extinguish the fire,“ Andrus stated. “ The fire was knocked down in under an hour, but crews remained on scene extinguishing hot spots.”

Substantial portions of the home were destroyed.

The home’s sole occupant was transported to Concord Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
