CONCORD, NH — As Granite Staters prepare to watch Sunday's big game, there's some good news to the bottom line of the state's tax coffers: Sports betting in New Hampshire, driven mostly by Super Bowl 54, has led to $1.2 million in profit for the state, according to the New Hampshire Lottery Commission. The state launched sports betting via the DraftKings.com's Sportsbook app at the end of last year, with Gov. Chris Sununu casting the ceremonial first inauguration bet. Since that time, bettors have wagered more than $17.3 million.

More than 29,100 users in the state have downloaded the app during the first month. Sununu called the windfall a "win for kids," since money from sports betting funds education in the state.

"The Patriots may not be playing in this year’s Super Bowl but that is not stopping New Hampshire from winning big," said Sununu. "There is no doubt that New Hampshire is already serving as New England’s go-to destination for sports betting, and we are just getting started."

Charlie McIntyre, the executive director of the New Hampshire Lottery, said the state launched the app in time to take advantage of the National Football League playoffs and the Super Bowl — one of the biggest sporting events of the year.

"We have seen incredible momentum building over the past few weeks," McIntyre said. "We are off to a tremendous start and we look forward to building on this success and continuing to maximize support for education in New Hampshire."
