Wow! What a day in Concord and beyond. . .

Incumbent Candidate Deborah Aylward, Salisbury OHD

Salisbury Old Home Day 2024 was greeted with beautiful weather, good attendance, fantastic foods, crafts and more. The Republican booth was hopping with constituents stopping by to chat with District 5, State Rep. Candidates, Deborah Aylward and Louise Andrus, and to express their support.

Thanks to all the volunteers who work hard (and in the heat) to pull off this annual event! The chicken dinner was delicious, with homemade fare such as custard and creme pies featured at the desert table. Unfortunately, the makers of these pies are prohibited from making them for profit, if desired, under current homemade food laws, which means there is a double standard where nonprofits are exempt from regulation regarding prohibited foods and is why I introduced a bill to deregulate the industry. The proposal is currently in Interim Study, with talk about having home cooks taking a reasonable food safety certificate course that would allow sales of foods requiring refrigeration.

Pray tell, who hasn’t left a pumpkin pie or banana bread on the counter for a few days? This because refrigeration alters the consistency in an undesirable way. And if so, how many of you got sick? I’ve yet to find anyone.

Speaking of baked goods, I encountered Alla Jackelli, Owner/Pastry Chef, of Truffalla, who is from Andover, and was vending the most amazing-looking baked goods!
From the Republic of Georgia, she featured a variety of gorgeous, 8"round short breads. Purchasing the apricot-almond, it was worth every penny of the $15.00 charged. As a first generation Scot in the U.S., and former manager of our family's wholesale/retail bakery in Virginia that specialized in British baked goods- I've had my share of shortbread, but Alla's took my breath away. It was not your typical 'short-type' pastry, instead, it is quite incredibly described as 'creamy' and a delight on the taste buds. If encountering Alla and her goods at a vending event, I highly recommend trying her shortbread.

But wait! There's more! Alla's other sensational talent is making not-your-typical wedding and special-occassion cakes, to which I can attest after viewing photos of her magical creations, and as a former, high specialist in cake decorating! Not convinced? Truffalla is a 'preferred vendor' for the Hilton Garden Inn in Lebanon, NH, and in testimonials, her customers regard her cakes as 'works of art'.

Incumbent Candidate Louise Andrus, Salisbury OHD

Candidate Statement

As a State Representative, I believe it is my responsibility to promote democracy, preserve conservative values and assure that government does not infringe on constitutional rights, as a result, my candidacy was endorsed by the National Rifle Association in 2022. With session attendance a top priority, I reliably had a 100% attendance rate. Striving to create new business opportunities for home cooks, I am pushing to have ‘Food Freedom’ laws passed. The favorite part of this job is promptly, and compassionately solving problems in response to constituent requests.

Protecting property owners from higher taxes, I voted against significant raises for county officials, and made a motion to defeat a proposal brought by the House Speaker despite obvious political pressure. It is reported that the annual cost of living (i.e. expenses required to sustain a particular standing of living) for the average NH family is 14% higher than the national average, that ranks NH as the 10th worst in America! Highly concerned about inflation, the economy, and lack of affordable housing, I supported, and will continue to support proposals that provide relief. When elected, I will not support tampering with the current laws on abortion and will oppose bills that promote illegal immigration and threaten national and local safety. I will not support income or sales taxes.

I abhor juvenile name calling, bullying, threats or intimidation as a form of political speech which is unproductive, distracting, ugly and and unbecoming of anyone. Believing that showing respect and engaging in civil discourse with across-the-isle colleagues is the only way to legislative achieve goals, I am working closely with a Democrat Rep to create proposals addressing land use and zoning issues. This year, thanks to the gracious help of Rep. Katelyn Kataub, my website AylwardNH.com was launched, I attended local events, and will be visiting District 5 transfer stations to meet and greet constituents.

My voting record and various organization’s ’score cards' speaks to the fact I represent the party that stands for freedom, prosperity and opportunity. I represent constituency that is pro-life within the context of the current laws, and does not support tampering with current abortion laws; pro business; education freedom; Second Amendment; free markets; low property taxes, limited government; government accountability and transparency; election integrity, and who do not support income or sales taxes.

My successes and bright visions for the future make me the right candidate for the job in 2024-2026. The 2005 photo (below) depicts myself when first arriving to NH, meaning I will soon be celebrating 20 wonderful years as a resident of this great state.

Please remember that District 5 is a two-seat district for State Representative, which means voters should ‘Vote for Two” or preferably, “Vote for Both” incumbent candidates, Louise Andrus and Deborah Aylward. Thanking the voters of District 5 (again) for their votes in 2022, I look forward to serving as your State House Representative for the next two years and thank you in advance for your vote. Voter suppression at work

There has been flawed messaging that Candidate, Deborah Aylward is Candidate, Louise Andrus’ ‘opponent’ and that voters should only vote for Andrus — even though two candidates will be elected for this two-seat district representing Andover, Danbury, Hill, Salisbury, and Webster.

Voters need to know that I am not running AGAINST Andrus, I am running WITH Andrus, with both of us representing the Republican Party as Andrus cannot possibly hold both seats. This misinformation campaign was also touted in 2022, there being hundreds of ‘undervotes’ which means many voters failed to vote for two candidates that year, some of whom may have been exposed to the inaccurate messaging.

After the 2022 election, an Independent constituent confided that she had been told to vote only for Andrus, and that I was her ‘opponent’, but that the ballot allowed her to vote for up to two Republican candidates, and that she became confused because she realized a non-vote for Aylward was a vote for the Democrats, and she couldn’t fathom losing a single vote to ‘the other side’ that she felt was a betrayal of her loyalty to the GOP and like-minded Independents. The woman voted for myself, along with Andrus, and ‘Red’ for the rest.

That, in fact, at Salisbury OHD, I congratulated Louise on the passage of HB 1205 relative to school sports recently signed by the Governor.

There is a phrase "Republican in name only" (RINO) which applies to disloyal members of the GOP. Beware of RINOs, or non-affiliated persons perpetrating this, or any distorted messaging as they are attempting to suppress voters’ right to choose, encouraging disloyalty to the GOP and are not trustworthy! Shame on them. Vote for BOTH!

We were originally founded in 1854 for the purpose of ending slavery - which compels us to patriotically defend America's values. The Republican Party is standing in the breach to defend our nation and way of life.

Enough is Enough!

With that said, I believe voters have had enough, that property owners are at the breaking point, and will decide this election by voting their pocketbooks, because all we see is less and less — for us! As one constituent said in opposition to pay raises for state and county officials: Why don’t they get second jobs like the rest of us! So my question is: Why don’t they? Why should bureaucrats have more and more at taxpayers expense? Should not there be a halt to certain spending until prices of groceries, other consumer goods, energy, etc. drop? Why should seniors have to come out of retirement to pay for bureaucrat's comfortable lifestyle? Grocery store prices are now almost 25% more expensive than pre-pandemic levels, according to Consumer Price Index data. Though the CPI dropped to 2021 levels in July, the data does not include food or energy costs!

Consumers are having to dig deep to afford gas, meat, and milk, medications, or are doing without! Seniors are being driven out of investor-owned mobile home parks, because they cannot afford exorbitant increases in rents!

We cannot afford four more years of out-of-sight prices, because they are not sustainable. Starting with local government, to state and federal governments, taxpayers must resist constant budget increases, or‘inflation creep’ — because there is no sign of it stopping. Taxpayers
must tell school boards that they must operate within their means because they already have ‘enough’ — especially with the decline in enrollments. The districts must roll back their spending to keep pace with the downward trend of fewer and fewer children and think towards
the future when school buildings will be sitting empty.

So Republicans are doing something about it, which is why voters must consider voting 'Red' down the ticket. . .

This year, Republicans are raising their own concerns about low teacher salaries. But conservatives see a different culprit: administrator pay. School districts are spending too much of the money they do receive on school administrators, Republicans argue, and should reduce that spending and direct it to teachers instead.

Starting in the 2026 town meeting season, a new law will require that school districts provide salary data to their residents every year. Republicans hope it will inspire residents to push for school budget changes at the local level."

Why Deborah Aylward for State Rep?

Please vote to re-elect Incumbent, Deborah Aylward as State Representative. Why? Because I’ve seen her in action, and have no doubts about her abilities to properly serve her constituents in the State House. She is readily accessible and highly responsive, which are character traits we demand of our representatives. She possesses the strength and fortitude of a distinguished stateswoman, and carries herself as someone who is truly proud to hold her position on behalf of the people she serves. Deborah is someone who is troubled by injustice, who does something about it, and further cares more about altruism than personal gain. Her goal is to uplift others and spread compassion. Nothing lights Deborah up like changing someone else’s life for the better. All she asks for in return -- is your vote!

When doing the right thing counts

I know Candidate, Deborah Aylward (R), to be a tireless champion of what is “right". Locally, she has spent innumerable hours gathering facts to present to voters for informed decision-making; has “righted" quite a few “wrongs” with local government, and requested action by state agencies which benefited the citizenry. Deborah is gracious and kind, and will go out of her way to help others because she has an abundance of empathy for those in need and she feels it is the right thing to do. I credit Deborah with assisting me with start-up of my successful homemade food business, and applaud her legislative pursuit of reforming the laws governing the same. She is currently working on legislative proposals which address local land use board matters to help improve the qualifications of those governing people’s property rights by mandating free training, for example. We need principled, hard-working people like Deborah in state government. I enthusiastically support her continued service as a State Representative, and ask voters to do the same! I know I will.
