Police Arrest Man After Chase Through Concord

Man allegedly possessed crack cocaine.

A Manchester man was arrested on numerous charges after a leading police on a wild chase through five different cities and towns along I-93 on Feb. 16.

Michael Lemire, 35 of Manchester, was arrested on Feb. 16, and charged with Operating After Suspension-Subsequent Offense, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, felony level Reckless Conduct, Disobeying a Police Officer, Assault on a Police Canine, Resisting Arrest or Detention, and Possession of Crack Cocaine. 

According to a New Hampshire State Police press release, Manchester Police Department officers were attempting to stop a motor vehicle around 9:15 p.m. after the man driving the vehicle was reportedly seen exiting a known drug house where drug activity had also been suspected. The suspect, who was driving a green GMC Jimmy, fled the scene, heading north on Route 3A towards Hooksett and Bow.

The Manchester Police then abandoned the chase but they issued information about the vehicle – including a license plate and vehicle description – to the state police.

A state police officer then spotted the vehicle, called for backup, and followed the vehicle northbound through Bow and into Concord. When the vehicle refused to stop, spike strips were deployed in an attempt to stop the vehicle, as the vehicle attempted to get onto I-93 northbound at Exit 12.

According to police, another set of spike strips were deployed at Exit 13. However, the vehicle continued north, driving on the median strip. Eventually, three of the four tires on the GMC were deflated.

The suspect eventually exited I-93 at Exit 17 in Boscawen and another set of spike strips were deployed, deflating the last tire, according to a report. The vehicle began to travel westbound on route 4 towards Boscawen.

At the Merrimack River bridge near the Hannah Dustin memorial, Lemire reportedly abandoned the vehicle in a field and fled the scene on foot. A K-9 unit was deployed and Lemire was later caught and taken into custody. He was later transported to Concord Hospital after sustaining injuries during an altercation with the K-9.

A state police vehicle was also damaged during the chase.

Lemire may face more charges from the Manchester Police Department.
