Stay Work Play New Hampshire’s ‘Rising Stars’ To Be Feted Sept. 29

Concord, Goffstown, Manchester, and Somersworth residents, Merrimack and Concord businesses were highlighted by the org as "remarkable."

CONCORD, NH — A nonprofit in New Hampshire has released the names of its “Rising Stars” awards for 2023.

Stay Work Play New Hampshire, an organization created in 2009 to attract and retain young people to the state, released its latest list of residents and businesses that will be feted in Portsmouth later this month. The awards “celebrate and recognize” the Granite State’s “remarkable” young people and the companies going “the extra mile to recruit and retain them,” Will Stewart, the executive director of the organization, said.

The winners are:

  • Artist of the Year: Somersworth resident Gemma Soldati, an artist in residence at Kimball Jenkins.
  • Changemaker of the Year: Concord resident Riyah S. Patel, the founder and president of New American Scholars Inc., who is also a senior at Phillips Exeter Academy.
  • College Student of the Year: Goffstown resident Corinne Cloutier, a junior at Plymouth State University.
  • High School Student of the Year: Manchester resident Anna Kual, a junior at Manchester Central High School
  • Entrepreneur of the Year: Concord resident Alison Murphy, the owner of Penumbra.
  • Young Person of the Year: Concord resident Michael Newell, a home care nurse at Granite VNA.
  • Fidelity Investments’ Merrimack location was also named Coolest Employer for Young People.

A reception for the recipients will be held at 3S Artspace in Portsmouth on Sept. 29.
