Study: The Granite State Is a Great Place for Women

WalletHub: In quality of life areas like a poverty, high school dropout, unemployment rates, NH is one of the best places for women to live.

If you are a woman and you live in New Hampshire, you already know it’s a pretty great place to live. But now a new study by a personal finance website shows that according to a number of key metrics, it is one of the best states for women to live in.

WalletHub released its 2016 Best & Worst States for Women on Feb. 29, 2016, in celebration of Women’s History Month in March, and noted that in a number of categories – like a low unemployment rate, lowest dropout rate, and lowest percentage of women in poverty – New Hampshire is one of the most women-friendly states in the country. In fact, New Hampshire is third ranked third out of 50 states and DC, according to the study.

For methodology, the study awarded most points for economic and social wellbeing, like earnings, businesses owned by women, and previously “working mom” and “women’s equality” rankings; care and safety – like crime statistics and hospitals – received 40 percent of point rankings.
