HOOKSETT, NH — A elderly woman is OK after driving her SUV into a building at the Hooksett rest stop on Monday.

New Hampshire State Police were sent to the Hooksett rest area, on the southbound side of Interstate 93, for a report of a vehicle crashing into a structure. When they arrived, they found Mbombo Kalala Mutombo, 65, of Derry had driven her 2021 Nissan Rogue into the side of the building.

“As Mutombo was attempting to park her vehicle, she accelerated into the side of the building,” Amber Lagace, a public information officer for state police, said. “Based on the statements from witnesses and the operator, it is believed that this crash was caused by operator error and inexperience.”

Impairment was not a factor, she said. The crash was on the side of the building near the southern entrance.

“Fortunately, no one was injured because of this crash,” Lagace added.
